Nirvana ("we", "our", "the app") is a family management app that helps households organize chores, calendars, house rules, and shared finances. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
| Category | What we collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account info | Name, email address (via Google Sign-In / Firebase Authentication) | Create your account and identify family members |
| Family data | Family membership, member roles (parent or kid), chores, calendar events, house rules ("Family Constitution"), rewards | Core app functionality |
| Financial data | Bank account and transaction data (via Plaid), utility account data, receipts you scan or upload | Expense tracking and bill insights, shown only to parent-role accounts |
| Photos | Photos you capture or upload for receipts and chore verification | Receipt scanning and chore completion |
| Voice input | Speech you provide to the in-app assistant ("Nia") | Converts spoken commands to text so Nia can act on them |
| Device / notification data | Push notification token | Deliver notifications (e.g. chore reminders, family activity) |
| Biometric data | Face ID / fingerprint match result | Used only on-device to unlock parent mode; the biometric data itself never leaves your device and is never sent to us |
We use the information above solely to provide and improve the app's features for your family. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties. Nirvana does not include any advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
Nirvana relies on the following third-party services to operate:
Each provider only receives the data necessary to perform its function and is bound by its own privacy and security terms.
Family data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS). Financial and utility account data is protected with a separate encryption key from general family data, so that it cannot be accessed through a kid-role account.
Nirvana includes an optional "Kid" role that a parent sets up from their own account for use within the family. Kid-role accounts are created and managed by a parent, cannot see financial, banking, or utility data, and cannot be created independently by a child. Parents control what information exists in their child's profile and can remove it at any time. Nirvana does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children outside of a parent-managed family account, and does not use children's data for advertising.
